Job Summary:
This Value Analysis Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for field level standardization efforts as well as field level process improvement and program implementation efforts. The incumbent will spend the majority of time in our hospitals successfullyrunning product and process standardization efforts, new product implementation efforts, and new solution (software, process, training, etc.) initiatives. All of these initiatives and efforts are designed to implement and sustain ongoing savings and value to WellStar's acute and non-acute facilities. This Specialist will work with clinicians and physicians to drive standardization and improved product utilization. This Specialist will work with manufacturers to implement new products and new contracts. This Specialist will work with manufacturers to address MBO issues and needs, including identifying substitute items, ensuring supply of these items all while communicating with affected departments. This Specialist will work closely with the CSC to bring medical supplies into distribution. This Specialist will work on new product and service offerings that drive efficiencies, also known as the JOB JAR concept. This Specialist will build and maintqain a supportive relationship with leaders, medical , supply chain and clinical staff to ensure consensus and a collaborative decision-making process. This Specialist will be accountable for aligning supply and service spend with system -wide initiatives. This Specialist will aim to build mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers/vendors in order that the supply chain/value analysis departments work in a cooperative manner. This Specialist will help to buils longer-term relationships with suppliers/vendors that offer quality, value, a willingness to collaborate and the flexibility to meet changing supply requirements.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Management - Emphasizes personal accountability and high visibility within the system. - Serves as a role model to peers, and CQVA Teams, while achieving results within a team environment. - Builds strong strategic relationships with physicians, senior leaders, clinicians and other members of leadership. - Works collaboratively with departmental and organizational peers. Process, Policy and Procedure Development - Helps to achieve project goals and objectives. - Plays an integral role in backorder and substitution management processes. - Key contributor, leader and facilitator at Supply Chain Product Fairs. - Proactively maintains relationships with key stakeholders to manage supply, equipment and purchased service expense and utilization, including physicians, presidents, chief operating officers, service line leaders, vice presidents, department directors and other key customers. - Helps develop an annual business plan to include, initiative work plans, timelines, milestones and metrics for the VA Implementation Team initiatives, including service lines, pharmacy, laboratory, and purchased services to assure WHS obtains pricing commensurate to its market position, commitment and volume and complies with these commitments via standardization efforts and commitment to organizational processes. - Helps to develop best practice models for Value Analysis and Inventory Management and Operations. - Helps to assure that Lawson processes are standardized to best practice and supported with training programs, policies and procedures - Works closely with Executive Director, CSC Operations and the AVP of Supply Chain Operations to optimize internal and external distribution channels, including support for the ACD and Forumulary Governance processes. - Develops and tracks standardized protocols for vendors and organization-wide utilization of contracts. Quality / Safety - Helps to provide oversight to Supply Chain processes to provide physician and clinician input into supply formulary development to assure quality and safety of products. - Helps to provide strategic direction to all internal medical product consumers, to effect strategies for appropriate supply utilization. - Works closely with the Quality Management department to assure appropriate review of supplies, equipment and services. - Helps to Develops and implement a reporting process for product recalls and products that fail to meet quality and safety standards established by Wellstar Health System. Customer Service - Communicates effectively and routinely with physicians, clinicians, vendors and Supply Chain staff to create an environment that supports the Supply Chain strategic vision. - Serves as liaison and problem solver with physicians, senior leaders, clinicians, vendors, and Supply Chain staff to resolve issues related to product standardization and utilization. - Maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers. - Responds to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner. - Creates a work environment that promotes premier customer service by all areas of responsibility. Analysis, Tracking and Reporting - Implements spend management strategies and supports Supply Chain policies and procedures. - Helps to Ensure that GPO, Partners Cooperative and WellStar Health System agreements are optimized in coordination with Executive Director of CQVA and the AVP of Supply Chain Operations, with a focus on contract compliance, maximizing contract value, and standardization across the health system. Vendor Management - Responsible for supporting and help in the developing of key strategic vendor relationships for the health system in order to drive optimal economic value for the organization. - Partners with selected vendors to successfully implement Supply Chain strategic initiatives, such as standardization and utilization initiatives and efforts. - Responsible for helping to maintain, foster, and maximize relationships with Vizient, Partners Cooperative, the WHS supply base, and other strategic partners, via sound supplier relationship management best practices. - Helps to ensure vendor compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, and helps maintains scorecards in support of these processes.
Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree with at least 5 years healthcare or supply chain experience Required or Bachelor's Degree or the ability to complete a Bachelor's Degree within 12 months of employment Preferred and Bachelor's Degree in a Clinical field such as Nursing, Surgical Technician, or the like Preferred

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years in a clinical field or supply chain Preferred and Minimum 5 years in an integrated, multi-site healthcare system Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
Must be high energy and results oriented. Effective clinical skills and knowledge, specifically with regard to products and new contracts. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrates the ability to work well as a team mate, or a team leader. Must demonstrate fundamental project management skills and fundamental financial management skills.
