Position summary:

The primary objectives of the Kitchen Manager are to: (1) manage all aspects of the school kitchen, and (2) ensure safety and cleanliness of the kitchen at all times. The Kitchen Manager will report to the School Leader and will prepare healthy meals and snacks to the students.

Essential Tasks:

  • Management (25%)
    1. Create menus, order food, prepare meals and deliver meals to other locations.
    2. Order products on a regular schedule to eliminate out of stock items such as food, paper goods, cleaning supplies and snacks.
    3. Inventory of all kitchen items.
    4. Control of food costs.
    5. Conduct vendor cost comparisons.
  • Safety (20%)
    1. Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen; all food preparation areas, food containers, refrigerators, freezers.
    2. See that the kitchen is organized and ready for daily operation.
    3. Keep equipment and fixtures in a clean, well serviced condition.
    4. Maintain the highest level of sanitation and be responsible for the inspection with the health department.
    5. Participate in annual inspections.
    6. Keep food safety certificate current.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years' experience in a similar role.
