*This role can be permitted to work with a Hybrid Schedule. Expectations are to work remotely 2 days per week. Onsite days are expected 3 days per week.

Here at Nordco, we are a major supplier to North American Class 1 Railroads, regional/short line railroads, public transit systems, railroad contractors, and equipment leasing companies. Nordco also serves industries that rely heavily on rail transportation, including port authorities, agriculture, mining, chemicals, and energy.

As a Test Engineer with Nordco, you will have the unique opportunity to grow fast and shape the future of our company; all the while working with leaders in the manufacturing and railroad industry. Our Test Engineers II will be tasked with:

Equipment -- 60%

• Travel to the field to aid in the development and testing of new Nordco products and equipment
• Troubleshoot machine issues including but not limited to mechanical systems, hydraulic systems and electric systems
• Develop and execute test and validation plans for NPD projects
• Create clear and informative reports and updates for the projects being tested

Design -- 40%

• Analyze and design small to midsize projects, generally aiding the assigned test projects
• Performs engineering calculations on new and existing designs
• Maintains individual design schedule to ensure on-time completion as determined by the project leader
• Completes test and validation exercises within pre-defined schedule and cost targets
• Manage small to medium sized projects
• Supervision of test technicians and operators in the field and on campus

General

• Self manages projects and timelines. Provides updates as necessary.
• May be required to coordinate the contribution of other team members
• Meets requirements on function, reliability, safety and performance of equipment operation
• Able to function under minimal supervision

We are looking for Design Engineering professionals with:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
• Strong analytical mindset and skills
• Experience with heavy equipment
• Experience with hydraulic and electronic control systems
• Railroad industry experience is a plus
• 3D CAD modeling proficiency (Creo experience is a plus)
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at deadlines at one time

Travel

• Up to 75%

Work is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. Normal correctable vision is required.
