Position Pay Range:

This range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to geographical location and experience.

$16.93-$27.09

Summary:

This position is responsible for maintaining CSG's Quality standards. Accurately processing all jobs within the designated SLA time. This position is also responsible for monitoring machine benchmarking standards for Operators and assisting in providing action plans to achieve set standards. Similarly, Team Captains will assist in helping set up insert machines, provide guidance and training to new Insert Operators. In addition they have the responsibility of providing a safe and clean work area.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Managing Production Floor

  • Manage workload to meet contractual SLA's.

  • Meet CSG's Quality guidelines.

  • Monitor machine performance throughout the shift and provide detailed updates.

  • Monitor Operator performance throughout the month and provide feedback it not meeting benchmark standards.

  • Work as a team with other departments to ensure all issues are communicated and resolved.

  • Ensure all policies and procedures (special job handling) are being followed and alert Supervisor regarding deviations and/or on action needed to resolve deviation.

  • Handles daily assignments, issues and situations in absence of Supervisor.

  • Must support the efforts of the team in a positive manner and support CSG Core Values and Principles.

  • Facilitates the smooth transition between shifts and provides a turnover.

Training/Coaching Team Members

  • Works with production staff to ensure all processes are being followed correctly

  • Inform and provide example of correct processes as needed.

  • Indentify and establish essential training time and requirements for production staff.

  • Champion the onboarding of new products and procedures.

  • Serve as the focal point to give detailed explanations on the intricacies of an insert machine and what it takes to process an order.

  • Assist in monthly cleaning assignments and duties.

  • Take a lead role in the success of the department, i.e. advise on new products and/or product enhancements, operational enhancements, and/or improvements.

  • Properly troubleshoot machine problems and notify technicians as needed.

External - Postal Clerks

Internal - Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager, Printer Operators, Warehouse Clerks and Mail Prep Operators.

(Work environment including any noise, equipment, space, temperature, etc. conditions.)

  • The workplace is typically noisy. The sound of machinery running is prevalent throughout the building. Employees wear ear plugs depending on the safety hazards of their particular workplaces. Work shifts are carefully regulated by employers, and employees may clock in and out of work when they start or end their shifts, or take breaks.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the Inserting industry.

  • Ability to explain the procedural differences between the OSC product families (staggered mailings, cut-sheet, etc.).

  • Minimum 24 months demonstrated 100% quality.

  • Meet or exceed attendance expectations. Willingness to volunteer for overtime as needed.

  • Minimum "Fully Meets Expectations" on most recent performance appraisal.

  • Cannot be on, nor have any disciplinary actions on file for 6 months prior to consideration for promotion to Team Captain.

  • Accurately perform sign-on function for all Operators without assistance.

  • Train new hires as business needs dictate.

  • Manage workload to meet contractual SLA's.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, DFWorks and DirectNet.

  • Train new hires as business needs dictate.

  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding of OSC facility operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to occasionally reach, lift, and carry boxed materials and paper webs weighing between 25 to 45 lbs. over an approximate range of ankle to shoulder high.

  • Occasional push and pull with forces upwards of 57lbs necessary to maneuver loaded carts and pallet jacks.

  • Frequent use of both hands to grasp boxes and webs, open boxes, grasp inserts and envelopes, and complete paperwork.

  • Ability to stand/walk for 95% of shift.

  • Ability to work a shift schedule of 6A - 6P

  • Ability to work weekends

  • Ability to use a personal computer. Proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in a business environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Keyboarding/Writing/Clicking/Working with fingers - >67% of the time

  • Standing/Walking - 95% of the time

  • Pushing/Pulling - 40% of the time

  • Lifting/Carrying - 10% of the time

  • Vision - Near/Far - Good near vision required for working on the computer

  • Hearing - Position requires ability to hear oral information

  • Talking - Position requires oral communication
