Job Description:
The Cloud Administrator - IaaS Specialist helps align our strategies into cloud solutions such as Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Microsoft Azure that best meet organizational needs. This role implements, monitors, and maintains AWS / Microsoft Azure solutions, including major services related to compute, storage, network, and security.

This role defines what is needed to be done to implement the cloud solutions, using written and verbal communication skills to scope, assemble, and propose solutions. This is a hands-on role that can manage, facilitate, and coordinate execution of proposed solutions into fruition.

This role also ensures that the operational activities required to manage and administrate the implemented solutions are documented and executed consistently by the Support Team to meet security and audit requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • SME Responsibilities to transition existing on-premises infrastructure to a cloud architecture
  • Must be able to work as part of a traditional network team while working to transition requirements to cloud based SDN architecture
  • Current Infrastructure could include, but not limited to, physical/virtual servers, workstations, storage, networks, encryption technologies, software, databases, and other unique program of record services
  • Perform analysis of current infrastructure and business processes
  • Work with current and identify future customers to ensure their mission needs will be met with minimal impact during transition
  • Developing and maintaining bot on premise and cloud based network architectures, security, and maintaining network configurations
  • Create and implement router, switch and VPC configurations
  • Troubleshooting network performance issues
  • Provide user support and guidance
  • Set up IP schemas for multi-tenant environments
  • Configure physical and virtual switching, routing, and firewall protocols, ports, and services
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans
  • Manage network communications testing, installation, and support, including LAN/MAN/WAN system
  • Create and implement router and switch configurations
  • Provide recommendations to enhance and improve network performance
  • Interface with vendors to address problem escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance
  • Focus on integrating the services defined in the MCIEE Blueprint
  • Migrate or re-engineer database design per requirements of analyst tools
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
  • Amazon Web Services Cloud certification is required
  • Familiar with Load Balancer and Virtual Firewalls
  • Hands-on cloud architect/SME capable of entire lifecycle transition to cloud technology
  • Must be capable of performing analysis of current business processes and services provided
  • Knowledge of available cloud services to make informed decisions to guide SaaS, PaaS, DaaS, and Self-Hosted, or hybrid approach
  • Recommend best practice approach of transition to cloud technologies or hybrid approach
  • Develop transition plan that keeps current stakeholders informed during the process
  • Design, Implement, and Automate environment creation
  • Document procedures, plans, testing, diagrams, maintenance, training, SLAs/OLAs
  • Must be capable of training peers with administration/migration processes
  • Must be capable of training customers of new processes/procedures resulting from cloud transition
  • Must be capable of scripting technologies and how to automate creation of cloud environment
  • Familiar with implementing High Availability (HA) architecture, maximizing service uptime
  • Must be familiar with environment auto scaling and load balancing
  • Must be familiar with DoD Cyber processes to include STIGs
  • Must be familiar with transition of multiple OS technologies to include Windows and Linux servers and workstations
  • Must be familiar with backup and recovery/DR solutions and processes and recommend as required
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiar with Marine Corps processes, procedures, and interoperability requirements
  • Familiar with similar transitions and can inform lessons learned as needed
  • Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) development may be necessary
  • Familiar with C2S, S-C2S, AWS, Azure\MSO365 and Marine Corps Private Cloud technologies and dependencies
  • Familiarity with the MCISRE and Blueprint services
  • Familiarity with FEDRAMP, NIST, RMF, and other process standards
  • Experience with manual and automated security administration, remediation, and hardening (STIG reviews, group policy and permissions, system modifications based on vulnerability scans, audits, and mitigations, patch management)
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise system monitoring tools
