The Delfield Plant superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day night shift operations of the plant. He/She will ensure that all equipment and machinery is functioning properly, monitor production to ensure it meets quality standards, and coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure that employees are working safely and that the customer requirements are being met. The Plant superintendent will also ensure each department is staffed according to the business needs. This includes ensuring that employees have the proper training and certifications to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Major Accountability:

  • Directs operations of multiple departments and/or shifts to ensure safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping goals are met.
  • Sets goals and manages results for subordinate supervisors or team leaders on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and adhered to by direct reports.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates production activities and processes; ensures adequate resources to maintain production schedules according to customer requirements.
  • Identifies significant manpower and workflow problems and initiates corrective actions.
  • Supports the Manufacturing Engineers with internal continuous improvement processes.
  • Supports adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the broad formulation of manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Defines training requirements of subordinate supervisors.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Managing in a union environment preferred.
  • Good software applications skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Quality system requirements, Lean Principles and policies and safety requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) for the job being performed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
