Ricks Center for Gifted Children at the University of Denver is an exemplary school serving the needs of gifted children since 1984. We provide nationally recognized gifted education to approximately 250 students ranging from three years of age through eighth grade, who demonstrate exceptional, differentiated abilities and learning needs. Located on the campus of the University of Denver, the Ricks Center offers a progressive model of education focused on developing the intellectual, social, emotional, creative and physical needs of the gifted child. Ricks Center students matriculate to a wide range of settings including local public and private schools, concurrent enrollment in high school and college, and boarding schools.

Position Summary

This position will secure and sustain the overall well-being of children and to support the implementation of classroom and program plans. The Substitute Teacher will assume all classroom duties in the absence of the classroom teacher.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Experience in a school setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate hours in education or gifted education.
  • Experience teaching gifted children.
  • Valid teaching certificate or license.
Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $18-$22.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
