The Opportunity

The Sterile Processing Educator position reports to the Director of Sterile Processing, partnering with local site leaders as it relates to device reprocessing training activities. This position is responsible for coordinating developing the instructional curriculum and supporting evidence based practice to enhance the learner's competence of all relevant device reprocessing activities. This includes assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the education program and training of all staff members performing device reprocessing to ensure appropriate professional development for all team members. This position also oversees new employee orientation and competency assessment, as well as continuing education for all team members as related to device reprocessing activities. The Sterile Processing Educator provides support to staff performing training activities and is responsible for developing training strategies to enhance staff knowledge with respect to processing practices and service delivery.

Job Duties

  • Designs and implements all aspects of the sterile processing training program including; initial training, competency assessments and in-services leveraging methods such as classroom training, interactive or hands on training and e-learning.
  • Identifies specific skills sets and on-going educational opportunities in need of development that may be site specific or across multiple sites, develops appropriate action plan and works with local and Sterile Processing leaders for implementation.
  • Educates staff to new evidence-based sterile processing technologies, changes in policies and procedures and evaluates the effectiveness of such innovations
  • Assists the Director of Sterile processing in reviewing and updating department policies as industry standards and best practices evolve.
  • Remains knowledgeable of site-based quality improvement projects related to device reprocessing and assists staff to identify appropriate follow-up interventions based on quality of the QI findings.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 to 4:30 pm with some flexibility

Hybrid: This position will require travel to various MGBMG sites through MA and NH two to three days per week.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent years experience
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • CRCST Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Direct experience in an Operating Room or Sterile Processing Department, of which at least one year has been gained in a supervisory or education role
