Walmart Global Tech is looking to hire a Staff Software Engineer (Backend Focused)for their Marketplace Engineering team in Hoboken, New Jersey. An ideal candidate must have expertise in Java, strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures, cloud application development, NoSQL Databases, automation tools, CI/CD pipeline, and a proven understanding of microservices and REST APIs.

About Team:

As a member of the Catalog group, you'll be contributing to build state of the art catalog platform at the world's largest retailer. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing code change required for special business requirements. You'll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of the team, Product Setup Team, you'll be able to say that you work for the world's largest retailer and contribute to the development to create and maintain best-in-class catalog that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it. The team builds and maintains a large enterprise scale platform to create and maintain products transactable for omni-channel business. This platform also serves various site facing components. We heavily use Java, Kafka, Spring Framework, Cloud Stack, Microservices, Kubernetes, Dockers, Spark and NoSQL, among other cutting-edge technologies in our core platform. Experience with all these technologies would be advantageous but is not required.

What you'll do:

* Assist in solving problems by writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders, troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
* Assist in providing guidance to engineers for assigned Engineering projects by providing detailed technical feedback through various channels including pair programming and code reviews.
* Provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues
* Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause) and performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues.
* Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, user experience teams, and engineering teams.

* You come to the table with a comprehensive knowledge of Java as well as Agile methodologies. Cloud stack, working with large data, NoSQL data storages experience.
* Solid fundamentals in Algorithms, Data Structures, Complexity Analysis and Object-Oriented Design
* Experience building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.
* Experience working on cloud native services
* Ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage
* A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.
* A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest features in software development
