Job Summary:

The Sr. Mechanical tool and design engineer will play a crucial role in aiding the creation and enhancement of engineering tools and processes while collaborating with various departments across the organization. Responsibilities will include creating parts for the Parts Library, as well as modifying meta-data for seamless integration with our material and equipment requisition process.

Responsibilities:

  • Parts Library Management:
    • Create new parts and components for the Parts Library using AutoDesk Inventor software and other relevant tools.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of part meta-data, including specifications and documentation to ensure correct material/equipment requisitions are produced.
    • Regularly review and update Parts Library to reflect changes in product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration Across Business Areas:
    • Work closely with departments outside of engineering, such as manufacturing, quality assurance, and procurement, to understand their requirements and incorporate them into the development of Work Instructions.
    • Foster strong cross-functional relationships to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop Process Work Instructions:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop clear and comprehensive Work Instructions that facilitate efficient workflows and adherence to best practices.
    • Ensure that Work Instructions are user-friendly and accessible to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Continuously update and improve Work Instructions based on feedback and evolving processes.
  • Aid in Training of Engineering Tools and Processes:
    • Assist in the training of engineering staff on the use of tools, software, and processes necessary for project execution.
    • Provide guidance and support to ensure that team members are proficient in utilizing available resources effectively.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (must be able to be ascertained from the resume):
  • Skilled in use of Autodesk Inventor, Vault, AutoCAD
  • Proficient in iLogic, IVB and Visual Basic coding
  • Proficient Parametric and Horizontal-Style modeling
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both written and spoken formats.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with limited direction.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 10 years of relevant experience, or associate degree in engineering with 15 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with 20 years of relevant experience
  • 5+years of proficiency and practical experience in AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automated material handling industry or related industrial businesses.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit/stand frequently for long and/or intermittent periods of time.
  • Time spent between general office environment (with normal sitting, standing and minimal, nominal lifting) and active construction site visits.
  • Time spent on active job sites includes being subject to noise, being in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical power and control systems, and high places.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required at active job sites.

Travel Requirements:

This position may require occasional travel to various offices and job site locations.

The base salary range for this role is $73,900 to $110,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
