The Role:

Reporting to the VP, Global Franchise Lead - Latent Viruses and located in our Cambridge, MA corporate headquarters, the Senior Director, Global Marketing - Latent Viruses (Cytomegalovirus) will be a key member of the team and will take responsibility and ownership for developing and executing the Global launch plans for the cytomegalovirus candidate vaccine mRNA-1647 and potentially other latent viruses vaccine candidates.

In this role, you will be joining Moderna at a critical time for the company and their product pipeline. This role, within Moderna's newly chartered Latent Viruses commercial organization, will be responsible for preparing and executing "best in class" global brand plans, manage launch excellence, develop strategies and tactics as well as work closely with the markets throughout the globe. This will include gathering market insights, landscape assessment, understanding care dynamics, gap analysis, market sizing, indication opportunity assessment and early launch preparation & strategies to guide commercialization plan. This individual will partner with cross-functional leaders in R&D, Medical Affairs, Value and Access, Commercial Operations, Policy, and Patient Advocacy within Moderna as well as external stakeholders.

Here's What You'll Do

  • Build and lead the development and execution of compelling global commercial strategy and plan for mRNA-1647 and other potential vaccine candidates to maximize the commercial value of the asset
  • Develop impactful launch strategies and Go-To-Market model across a multichannel approach for a complex ecosystem of healthcare professionals, health care consumers, along with a comprehensive external engagement plan partnering with KOLs, policy, & patient advocacy
  • Use your extensive experience in market and customer insights, marketing strategy to drive market development, brand value and differentiation, launch planning, pre-launch and launch execution
  • Facilitate and collaborate with Market Access, pricing and HEOR to develop differentiated strategies and compelling value proposition to secure market access.
  • Collaborate with the commercial, medical, and regulatory teams at every stage of development through launch, navigating the complexities inherent in vaccine development.
  • Deliver best-practice project management oversight for all market defining and launch activities.
  • Develop and manage commercial budgets and long-range plans and ensure appropriate resource allocation for prioritized for the asset(s) initiatives.
  • Ensure a strong commercial voice shapes future scenario planning and key investment decisions.
  • Ensure country launch readiness and excellence, with capability builds as required.
  • Represent commercial related matters to senior executives and some governance committees.
  • Provide strategic thinking to allow for identification of market opportunities in review of clinical development plans for next wave of latent diseases assets
  • Set a tone by ensuring clarity to external stakeholders on the bold ambition and Moderna's commitment to advancing care for patients with Rare Diseases.
  • With Moderna's Mindsets top-of-mind promote a culture to bring forward creative plans and digital avenues that maximize the potential of both assets.

Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive excellence within global marketing, with 5+ years' successful track record leading brand strategies and brand teams that define new markets, in addition to launch experience where a market must be built

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Global Marketing experience highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in the pharma/biotech industry
  • High learning agility, systems thinking capability and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, judgment and influencing skills, to engage cross-functional team members & senior leaders to ensure strong commercial focus and execution.
  • Strong leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short- and long-term needs, constructively resolve issues.
  • Effective communication and hands-on approach of getting things done within an organization that is dynamic, fast-moving, and continuously growing.
  • A high degree of digital fluency, and a deep understanding with proven success, using digital strategies and tactics to analyze market and consumer segments and identify target consumer personas
  • Experience implementing tactical marketing, including using novel digital methods to activate and engage with targeted consumers and motivate them to achieved desired objectives
  • The preferred candidate will have demonstrated success executing marketing plans that were innovative and "game changing," and that established the market standard for the therapeutic area, brand segment, or disease
  • Proven experience and knowledge of a broad base of external customers including patients, prescribers, payors, and patient advocates.
  • Previous success in developing and leading complex pre-launch and launch stage marketing plans, with prior vaccine product and/or consumer product marketing experience highly desired.
  • Working with Research & Development with sufficient understanding of technical risks and its commercial implications.
  • Excellent project & budget management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects & priorities to deliver business objectives.
  • Intense curiosity and ambition to excel and build something from the ground up, navigating all the requisite ambiguity and complexity that comes with writing a new rulebook while executing in real time.
