Sports Information Director

The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a full-time Sports Information Director to join our Athletics team.

The Sports Information Director reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Director of Athletics. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Director of Athletics. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.

Job Type: Full-time, benefits eligible

Job Purpose: To coordinate all aspects of sports information services for a highly successful division III athletic program.

Specific Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Full coverage of University of Lynchburg Athletics programs including statistical collection and curation.
  • Game Day operations for sports information.
  • Collaboration with the Director of Digital Media.
  • Game story and feature writing.
  • Website maintenance.
  • Special event preparation and execution.

Schedule: Office hours, nights and weekends and some travel based on games schedules.

Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Professional experiences in media or sports journalism.
  • Stat crew experience.
  • Web management with collegiate athletic website products.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and strong communication skills.
  • Must function highly in a team setting.
