Specimen Processor\/Phlebotomist

We are seeking a Specimen Processor/Phlebotomist to join our Baltimore, MD team on a full-time basis!

In this role you are responsible for specimen collection and processing and storage.

Specimen Processing

• Receives, centrifuge, aliquot and store laboratory specimen in compliance with the IRB approved protocol and the final version of the protocol-specific laboratory manual.
• Documents each stage of PK processing (i.e., in/out centrifuge, etc.).
• Affix specimen labels to PK cryovial tubes prior to initiating the specimen processing.
• Organize PK Cryovials.

Phlebotomy

• Prepares, verifies, and completes sample requisitions.
• Orders and accessions specimens for processing.
• Collect laboratory specimen which may include blood, urine, saliva and stool, etc.
• Understands the appropriate collection system, order of draw, and amount of specimen required for specified tests.
• Properly explains process and performs venipuncture and other specimen collection as required using multiple collection methods.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner and with any special conditions met as needed.
• Observe and follow all safety regulations.

Work Environment:

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; works in a temperature-controlled laboratory, however is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

Required Education & Experience:

• High School graduate or equivalent, plus completion of Phlebotomy Training.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in Specimen processing
• 1 year of experience in Phlebotomy.
