Software Engineers III Job Location: BioReliance Corporation, 14920 Broschart Rd, Rockville, Maryland 20850 Telecommuting is an option but the candidate must reside within commuting distance of Rockville, Maryland, to attend meetings in the office on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities:

Solutions architect, lead technical design and development for software development and automation for bioinformatics pipeline development and secondary bioinformatics analysis, with various programming languages in a Linux environment; make the operations team self-sufficient and minimize hands-on support tasks; Work with Project Management, Operations, R&D and other stakeholders to define features for development, understand and translate user needs into functional requirements for prototype construction and final product development by engineering teams; Provide technical direction and guidance to team members, develop and supervise training at various levels of software development, manage support resources to ensure the technology solutions meet the needs of the business; Engage in Software project management by facilitating and hosting Agile meetings (e.g., daily stand-up, backlog grooming, sprint planning, release planning, and sprint retrospectives), owning the software development backlog and prioritize user stories to meet the needs of the business; Lead code reviews used for bioinformatics pipeline development, with various programming languages in a Linux environment, establish procedures to support commercial work; Conduct code development for bioinformatics pipeline development, with various programming languages in a Linux environment, establish procedures to support commercial work; Conduct code development for Software engineering automation and development for NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data, over Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services; Conduct Software containerization and orchestration system with Docker, by implementing cloud native architecture, design and build robust CI/CD processes for deployments, scaling, and management; Conduct Software QA testing, unit testing, regression testing, integration testing, software debugging and deployment, participate in training to team members; Conduct Software version control, defect-tracking and provides control over changes to source code, with git-based source code hosting tools; Prepare technical reports, product/project summaries and perform fundamental literature searches to keep abreast of the field; Prepare project documentation which adheres to company requirements and complies with GLP and GMP regulatory requirements; and Maintain fundamental knowledge of GLP and GMP regulatory requirements through real-world experience and consistent/repeated course training. Requirements & Qualifications: Employer requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, or closely related field and at least three (3) years of work experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related role. Alternatively, the Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or closely related field, and at least five (5) years of progressively more responsible work experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related role. In addition, the employer requires the following: Demonstrated knowledge of software lifecycle pipeline development using Perl or Python in traditional and cloud computing development environment gained through three (3) years of work experience;Demonstrated ability using Linux command line including Bash, AWK, and SED gained through three (3) years of work experience;Demonstrated knowledge of Scrum and agile software development methodology and tools gained through three (3) years of work experience;Demonstrated ability working with Cloud Application, Docker, and Software Containerization gained through two (2) years of work experience;Demonstrated ability to author GXP relevant documentation gained through two (2) years of work experience; andDemonstrated ability leading a team of engineers gained through one (1) year of work experience.
