The Senior Managing Director, Head of Core Banking Technologies is a key Technology Leadership position in the Webster Bank CIO organization. This IT leader is responsible for supporting multiple business partners across Webster's Retail Bank and Business Operations lines of business. In addition, the leader is responsible for effectively managing multiple teams of Technology professionals (including product owners, project managers, scrum masters, SREs, developers, business systems analysts, etc.) to design, build, and manage solutions and systems that drive business value. With a customer centricity mindset, partner with senior business leaders across Retail Banking and Bank Operations to jointly create a product and strategy roadmap that advances the business goals and creates maximum value. Has the autonomy, responsibility, and accountability to produce the best outcomes for her/his team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing the products and solutions roadmap through close partnerships with business stakeholders and jointly determine implementation prioritization.
  • Accountable for driving completion of technology initiatives across different banking disciplines including Core Systems, Deposits, ATMs, Mortgage Servicing and Loan Origination.
  • Execution and delivery - Ensure quality and timely delivery of commitments as well as compliance with IT risk management and governance processes. Maintain accountability for solution design, build/integration and operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring system reliability and uptime, rapid and transparent response to incidents and problem management disciplines for any issues.
  • Manage day-to-day operational and tactical tasks associated with the maintenance and care of the portfolio of products.
  • Vendor Management - Accountable for Bank's Core Banking provider and responsible for other large vendor relationships.
  • Customer Centricity and understanding customer needs - Act as the internal representative (Voice) of the customer, continually leverage market research and trends to be able to provide best customer value.
  • Product Roadmap - Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders, and other teams to shape requirements, features and end products. Align IT Strategy and planning with application development and business roadmaps.
  • Prioritization and Resource Management - Make prioritization calls with a goal of ensuring the team remains focused on highest value add activities. Lead and mentor staff to improve skillset and career potential.
  • Productivity - Identify and initiate work process and tool improvements that lead to increased productivity.
  • Goals and Objectives - Define clear work goals in line with business goals and establish departmental priorities and expectations.
  • Technical Review - Review and approve design, technical, and/or operational specifications as well as design alternatives developed by teams.
  • Stakeholder Management - Liaise with senior management and provide reports/updates related to department performance as requested. As Product Manager run sync meetings with leadership to confirm prioritizations and progress on new initiatives.
  • Business management - Prepare annual department budget, maintain ongoing management of CapEx and OpEx budgets for the department, manage monthly financials and third-party contracts and agreements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in directly related field required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of complex software development experience, at least 10 of which were in a managerial capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of system development life cycle, client area's functions, and systems and applications program development alternatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, management, and analytical skills.
  • Able to build successful relationships with all levels of staff and management.
  • Experience in product management lifecycle, background in Agile framework.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing and balancing risk, allocating resources, and prioritizing projects
  • Demonstrated solid management skills, including experience successfully developing and motivating a high-quality, diverse professional staff
  • Knowledge of general Finance and Accounting practices
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to provide direction and regular feedback to team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage resources to achieve project goals within time and budget constraints
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage overlapping deadlines
  • Ability to practice innovative and creative thinking, and to motivate others to do the same
  • Ability to collaborate as a team player with all levels of staff and external stakeholders
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in field(s), staying current in requisite skills and sharing new knowledge and practices with relevant team members
  • Consistently demonstrates respect for inclusion, diversity, and ethics
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills and a comprehensive understanding of quality service delivery with a sensitivity to customer needs.
The estimated salary range for this position is $220,000.00 to $250,000.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
