As a Skills Trainer for our community based programs, you'll provide skills-based mental health training and support to children and families in community-based settings as part of our community based services for early and school-age children and families. Albertina Kerr uses Collaborative Problem Solving, an evidenced-based and trauma-informed approach to helping children with behavioral challenges. Essential Duties

  • Assists in development and implementation of effective behavior management strategies with guidance and input from clinical team and implements plans with family and child.
  • Provides individual and family skills training in accordance with clinical plan.
  • Observes, documents, and communicates information about the child's functioning and behavior to immediate supervisor, case managers and in meetings as required.
  • Ensures child's personal safety and notifies appropriate personnel or agencies when necessary.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and provides crisis response to families.
  • Responsible for child's timely and safe transportation.
  • Maintains productivity standard as set by supervisor for all billable activities.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) status (Bachelor's degree in human services, social science, or closely related field or equivalent work experience to meet OAR requirements).
  • One to three years' experience working with children, experience with mental health or developmental disabilities issues preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
  • Understanding of age specific child development.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical restraints as needed.
  • Valid Driver's license and the ability to meet agency driving requirements.
