Responsibilities
  • Embody the company's most important core value: Safety-properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and participate in safety program.
  • Responsible for the daily operation, production and maintenance of the assigned department.
  • Strict adherence to all Safety, Environmental and Quality programs, ensuring compliance with the policies associated with these programs.
  • Uses equipment to process, move, store, and load materials for shipment while ensuring that processed scrap meets specifications for customers.
  • Oversee shredder computer systems controlling the flow of material through the shredder to optimize density and volume while meeting production schedules and optimizing savings.
  • General labor duties that may include but not limited to: Sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment and physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
  • Willing to cross-train in other positions and assists other employees as needed.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the Facility Manager.
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
  • Minimum of 2-year experience in recycling/scrap operations or like industry.
  • Experience with Safety programs. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions as well as use a computer at an intermediate level.
  • Experience Operating a Skid Steer, Fork lift, Front-End Loader, etc.
  • Strong mechanical abilities (welding, fabrication, knowledge of tools, etc.).
  • Experience operating and understanding of conveyor belts.
  • Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to walk up several flights of stairs and work at heights above one story.
  • High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Flexible to work off hours, including overtime and six days a week as required by production as well as in varying indoor/outdoor industrial working conditions.
