Service Department General Manager 

Nature of Work
Oversee the daily operations of the service department and support personnel to ensure prompt and efficient service and procedures in full support of service operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and support to service department support personnel including staffing, training, reviewing performance, and recommending promotions.
  • Direct service department activities to ensure proper procedure and protocol.
  • Monitor service calls, dispatching, invoicing, financial and related reports; research and resolve issues as needed.
  • Ensure receivables and collections are processed in an appropriate manner.
  • Interface with customers to resolve issues, as required.
  • Supervise after-hours service calls as needed.
  • Oversee and assist with the set-up, maintenance and cancellation of new accounts and service contracts including insurance requests and other administrative functions.
  • Recommend new processes/procedures and keep management informed of department needs.
  • Support and assist with service software.
  • May serve as senior account manager for large, complex accounts.
  • Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Assist with clarification & adjustments within current ERP on monthly financials.
  • Review FSR's to ensure accuracy on divisions/class/mark-up/etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                  
Directly supervises three or more employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education                
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college/university or equivalent experience.

Experience
Three to five years or more of supervisory work experience in customer service/accounting industry required.

Scope

Responsible for the work of others directly or through subordinates; may supervise management-level positions; responsible for development of budgets and/or revenue projections and accountable for monitoring results; accountable for overall results of division/department.

Guidelines
Uses judgment and ingenuity in interpreting the intent of guidelines that do exist and in developing applications to specific areas.  Addresses broad or basic principles; develops new concepts and imaginative approaches to meet novel or non-recurring situations.

Physical Demands
Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or lifting of moderately heavy (25-50 pounds) items. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.

Work Environment
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, residences, commercial vehicles, or outdoors, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc.
