Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience. Completion of an internship and/or residency program in internal medicine, critical care, or oncology is required. Candidates with a keen interest in clinical medicine and advanced training in immunology/immunobiology (Masters, PhD) are preferred. The selected candidate will learn all aspects of running a clinical-translational research program and prepare the selected candidate for a successful future academic or industry related career.
In the translational research lab, the successful candidate will employ the latest tools supported by Penn's core facilities, including high dimensional flow cytometry, multiplex IHC/IF, and bulk and scRNAseq to identify correlative biomarkers of response. The selected candidate will work as an integral part of a comparative translational research team and assume primary case responsibility for canine patients enrolled in ongoing federal and privately funded immunotherapy clinical trials. They will gain practical experience in the use of immunotherapies alone, or in combination with other treatment modalities, utilizing the full range of capabilities in a large, well equipped, modern veterinary teaching hospital. In addition, the successful candidate will receive advanced training in cell-based immunotherapy technology, next-generation immune cell engineering, in vitro functional assays and analysis, next generation imaging platforms including spatial profiling and bioinformatics.
Job Responsibilities
Development and implementation of clinical trial protocols, primary case responsibility and clinical management of companion dogs receiving immunotherapies, client communications, referring veterinarian communications etc
Assessment of cellular products and clinical responses to immune therapies
Functional in vitro assays (proliferation, cytokine production, cytotoxicity etc), next generation sequencing, bioinformatics etc
Development of next generation cellular therapies including cell culture, vector generation, transduction, electroporation etc
Manuscript and protocol development and write ups, presentations, abstract +/- grant writing
Further career development opportunities, including seminars, conferences and graduate courses
Perform additional duties as assigned
Position contingent upon funding.
Education and Qualifications:
