Position Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Work Location: Redstone Arsenal, AL

Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the evaluation, acquisition, installation and support of high performance computing systems to include hardware (HW), software (SW) and data storage devices. Has extensive experience with high performance computing center operations. Familiar with HW/ SW and data storage concepts, practices, and procedures in a high performance computing center. Supervises subordinate systems administrators / analysts and sets work priorities. Works from general guidance of the Program Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Provide Database Administration and support
  • Maintain the integrity of the data and the efficiency
  • Maintain the efficiency and performance of the systems
  • Analyze, test, troubleshoot, patch, and update and install software/hardware
  • Resolve application errors and software bugs
  • Identify root causes and recommend mitigation strategies and or resolution actions.
  • Provide enhancements via Request for Change (RFC) and other change vehicles (e.g., Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA))
  • Implement application patches and assist with the identification/classification of RFCs and modifications to existing software applications for efficiencies in security, maintainability, supportability, and portability
  • Shall provide software and hardware infrastructure services
  • Shall conduct server replacement and data migration from one server to another.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience/Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or information systems and 12 years of directly related experience
  • Shall meet DOD 8570 requirements as an Information Assurance Technical, Level II (IAT-II). Shall be appropriately certified prior to any contract performance in support of IA functions. Shall be designated as an IAT-II due to privileged-level access to control, manage, or configure IA tools and devices, individual and networked IS and devices, and enclaves.
  • GSEC or Security + or SCNP or SSCP

Abilities:
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
  • Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
  • Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.

Security Clearance:

DoD active security clearance may be required
