POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clean Energy Technologies R&D (CET R&D) team in Linde Technology is a source of key technology insights in the identification of technology solutions required in the clean energy arena. The CET R&D identifies disruptive market and technology trends related to clean energy with emphasis on clean hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable energy, and energy storage.

The successful candidate will be a creative individual with experience in chemical engineering process, equipment & systems of interest in one or more of the following technology areas: clean hydrogen (blue or green) production, liquefaction, storage, distribution, and end-use applications; carbon dioxide capture and storage; renewable energy production and storage; conversion of renewable energy into hydrogen, chemicals, and fuels. The candidate will also have knowledge and experience in performing techno-economic analysis of novel processes and equipment to articulate their benefits compared to the state-of-the-art. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams involving R&D, Engineering and Business functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform deep dive assessments and develop strategic insights on future opportunities and threats.
  • Identify and evaluate step-change technologies.
  • Develop and maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in recent developments and future trends.
  • Create and maintain significant technical networks with external organizations.
  • Seek and create partnerships with other companies to jointly develop novel technologies.
  • Perform pre-feasibility studies (Technical and Commercial) to select concepts for development.
  • Develop business case and partnering concepts and obtain buy-in for the development projects.
  • Prepare internal and external funding proposals.
  • Develop and implement IP protection.

Required:
  • MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering with minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial experience
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and commercializing technologies
  • Process simulation experience with the ability to analyze integrated systems
  • Creativity, with excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Independent, driven, results-oriented disposition.
Preferred:
  • MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering with 10 - 15 years of industrial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced process simulation, systems modeling and techno-economic assessment
  • Knowledge of one or more clean energy technologies
  • Past work experience in evaluating opportunities in the clean energy areas
