Position Summary

The Senior Manager, GPV Strategic Management is a position responsible for a portfolio of planned, active, on-going strategic projects and governance programs. This portfolio offers opportunities for PV innovation and technical development (i.e. business process automation, database upgrades), affiliate/alliance partner integration, process development and improvement, improvement in compliance and quality, and reduction in operating cost.

All of these projects require the support and engagement of PV Strategic Management, PV functional area/leadership stakeholder support, as well as, in some cases, PV vendors/consultants. These projects generate a workload and financial investment from the business in addition to day-to-day activities and operations.

Effective and efficient implementation of these projects is critical to enable continued success, scalability and improvement for the GPV Organization. To ensure that the key project benefits are realized with minimal impacts to ongoing day-to-day operations, strategic portfolio management, prioritizations, and resource management capabilities are critical needs for the organization.

To enable successful completion of these activities GPV is creating a Strategic Portfolio Management team focused on the following capability focus areas:

  • PV Strategic Portfolio Management
  • PV Strategic Innovation and Operational Excellence
  • PV Affiliate/Alliance Integration
  • PV Governance Management
  • PV Resource Management


Key Job Responsibilities: PV Strategic Portfolio Management
  • Collaborate with GPV leadership in developing and refining the overall vision and strategy for the GPV organization.
  • Develop, implement and oversee methodology, system, and tactical process for maintaining the portfolio of PV projects.
  • Establish a framework and methodology for PV project prioritization and ensure alignment with annual PV goals, vision and strategy.
  • Facilitate the establishment of PV project prioritization quarterly during PV governance discussions.
  • Establish framework to develop business cases for all PV projects to assess and quantify business opportunity across key criteria (i.e. cost saving, improvement to compliance and/or quality etc.) to enable ongoing prioritization.
  • Establish functional area aligned KPIs for PV projects to enable the business to measure success and effectiveness of the project implementation.
  • Support the business in the assessment of the KPIs to enable opportunities for additional areas of focus


PV Strategic Innovation and Operational Excellence
  • Establish a vision and mission for PV Innovation aligned with the visions and objectives of all GPV LT members
  • Act as the key point of contact and strategic thought leader between the business and technical teams to effectively and efficiently drive execution of PV innovation projects in alignment with the overall vision
  • Identify opportunities across PV Innovation projects to enable additional efficiencies, enhancements, and cross process and system synergies.
  • Perform the following project management activities to enable effective and efficient implementation of PV Innovation and Operational Excellence projects:
    • In collaboration with project team establish and maintain project charter and scope documents.
    • Establish and drive execution of actionable project plans for the projects.
    • Facilitate cross-functional project meetings to enable alignment, and advancement of key project deliverables.
    • Work with the cross-functional project teams to define, capture and track actions, decisions, issues, and risks to the project.
    • Develop and report out to leadership project dashboards to enable concise and effective updates on project status and escalation of current issues and risks


PV Affiliate/Alliance Integration
  • Perform the following project management activities to enable effective and efficient integration of new affiliates and alliance partners into the Global PV processes and systems:
    • In collaboration with project team establish and maintain project charter and scope documents.
    • Establish and drive execution of actionable project plans for the projects.
    • Facilitate cross-functional and cross-company meetings to enable alignment, and advancement of key project deliverables
    • Work with the cross-functional project teams to define, capture and track actions, decisions, issues, and risks to the project.
    • Develop and report out to leadership project dashboards to enable concise and effective updates on project status and escalation of current issues and risks.


PV Governance Management
  • Perform the following project management activities to enable effective facilitation of the Global PV Safety Governance teams:
    • In collaboration with project team establish and maintain project charter and scope documents.
    • Facilitate safety governance meetings and document/publish discussion, actions and decisions.
    • Capture and track actions, decisions, issues, and risks identified during the safety governance meetings.


PV Resource Management
  • Establish a Resource management capability for all PV functions.
    • Develop functional-specific algorithms to enable forecasting of resource demand based on the upcoming book of business.
    • Create a centralized process for effectively managing PV resources.
    • Establish a governance body to help facilitate resourcing discussion.
  • Facilitate resourcing workshops to support the optimization of resource utilization


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Education, and Experience

Required:
  • Bachelors degree with 7-10 years of project management and or general strategy consultant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech
  • General understanding of clinical, safety and pharmacovigilance operations, and systems, and the interactions and contributions they have in the overall drug development and commercialization lifecycle.
  • Ability to develop and drive implementation of cross-functional project plans, including strategic assessment of impact, budgets and timelines.
  • Demonstrated contribution to the development of IT solutions in the healthcare/pharmaceutical business resulting in increased value.
  • Advanced meeting facilitation skills, with all levels of the organization and demonstrated ability to lead brainstorming / whiteboarding discussions.
  • Demonstrated flexibility; approaching process changes, technology and new responsibilities with and open curious mind.
  • Ability to diplomatically identifies stakeholder groups and maintains diverse, balanced and effective teams.
  • Ability to drive teams to focus on potential outcomes in advance of utilizing information, sourcing /processing to derive desired outcomes.
  • Served as a change agent on organizational, departmental and team initiatives. Leads team in the development and execution of strategic change management plans.
  • Extensive computer skills with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Effective interpersonal communication in a remote/virtual environment; communicates in an open, balanced and objective manner.
  • Excellent strategic decision-making and analytical skills;
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent track record;
  • Strong verbal and writing skills


Preferred:
  • PMP certified, Six Sigma
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience in agile methodology, alliance management and/or business development is a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience supporting a portfolio of device and combination products development lifecycles
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus.
