Position Summary

Safely and efficiently perform varying levels of preventative maintenance, tooling changeovers, and mold repairs. This role is critical in supporting customer expectations and driving plant metrics such as production efficiency and quality by ensuring the highest possible reliability and uptime.

Accountabilities

  • Execute all Departmental work Safely and ensure all Safety Inspection occur on time. Ensure all required BBSO•s and JHAs are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Environmental and Health regulations.
  • Lead mold changes daily or as needed to fulfill customer orders.
  • Schedule and Plan level 1.2.3 and weekly Preventive Maintenance procedures to ensure that all molds are maintained to company standards and that all tooling is maintained in top operating condition.
  • Utilize Upkeep CMM to schedule Work Orders and ensure all techs execute work orders accurately.
  • Repair injection molds to ensure that all molds operate at maximum potential, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, basic tool and die and repair / rebuild of hot runner systems.
  • Develop daily and weekly PM plans with mold manager and organize a status report at team meetings utilizing Upkeep CMM software.
  • Cut POs and create shipment numbers in JDE as needed.
  • Ensure Mold Shipment Checklist is completed properly for inbound and outbound mold shipments.
  • Back up Tooling Manager when needed.
  • Execute the plan at the floor level by ensuring completeness of tasks, at high quality, by self and team members.
  • Maintain molding surfaces to proper surface finish to ensure proper part release.
  • Setup of CNC mills, standard mills, and lathes to machine mold components.
  • Disassemble molds and hot runners for periodic maintenance and repairs.
  • Always demonstrate safe practices, critical when using overhead cranes, performing work inside hydraulic presses, lifting bulky and heavy objects, and ensuring safety of pedestrians or untrained workers.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and as required on Upkeep.
  • Work to improve and sustain a department on top 5s.
  • Facilitate and continuously improve changeovers through set up, documentation equipment, modification, and training.
  • Familiar with the use BOM•s and drawings to develop spare parts lists,
  • Use the LSW and RMS on a daily basis.
  • Confirm Mold Technicians are completing LSWs and assigned safety audits.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in injection molding (preferred)
  • Proficient in repairs of hot runner systems. (preferred)
  • Ability to define problems and resolve quickly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of lathe, mill, CNC, cranes and rigging.
  • Basic machining skills
  • Forklift certified
  • Familiar with hot runner systems, especially valve gate systems
  • Experience with large molds, 40,000 to 90,000 lbs.
  • Familiar with stack molds
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring required for proximity sensors and limit switches
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic functions
  • Basic knowledge of mold building materials, surface finishes, tolerances, and design principals.
  • Ability to function well within a team setting
  • Basic knowledge of BOM•s and drawings.
