Responsibilities

  • Creates and delivers brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy; encompassing style, color/print, fit and fabric for new and existing styles.
  • Designs and creates sketches and specs with details technical information, including front and back sketches, construction details, illustrations, material, trims, and hardware spec.
  • Work closely to support Director ensuring any business critical/hot topics are raised in a timely manner
  • Researches and interprets intimate fashion trends and consumer needs that uphold the integrity of the brand & conduct ongoing competitor research/trend analysis.
  • Ensure garment consistency across product collections & categories, analyze, and communicate risk during development cycle and continuously seek to drive product improvements to ensure best in class fit, comfort and performance with goal of consistently exciting our customers and exceeding wearing expectations.
  • Implement processes to understand/anticipate the needs of the customer to exceed customer expectations and readily react to their needs.
  • Collaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process including Merchandising, Product Management, and Reginal Technical Design Team/s.
  • Anticipate/solve potential issues and provide conflict resolution.
  • Creates style boards for area of responsibility, showing silhouette and color, fabric, print/pattern options.
  • Act as a positive, supportive partner, fostering open communication in a cohesive team environment with all business partners, consistently demonstrating our shared values and competencies.
  • Lead fit sessions on live model and communicate fit/construction corrections to vendors/ regional tech designer via written instruction, flat and on body measurements, patterns, and digital images to ensure proper fit and brand integrity
  • Evaluate fit and construction during each stage of the development cycle from concept to regional pass off for final fit approval cycle
  • Establish fit and quality standards to ensure consistency across product categories & collections.
  • Analyze Wear Test results and make recommendations for product and fit enhancements.
  • Guide/ support assistant designer(S) and Regional Technical Designers during fit sessions
  • Respond quickly to change with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new ways of working and achieving objectives.
  • Support merchants and regional partners by responding to and analyzing customer feedback and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Identify potential production, quality, and/or costing issues and provide recommendations and solutions.
  • Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal calendar deadlines are met & Maintains design records and ensures line sheets are up to date.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising team of specific needs and updates on seasonal Deck
  • Collaborate and follow up on deliverables and deadlines with all cross-functional partners throughout the design process
  • Facilitates organization and maintenance of prototypes and SMS with merchandisers
  • Tracks sourced materials development (fabric, elastics, lace, trims, etc.)
  • Demonstrates a passion for innerwear design and the Hanes Brand
  • Participate and lead new initiatives and projects with enthusiasm, on top of day-to-day work
  • Proactively problem solve when issues arise. Display control and flexibility in complex, ambiguous or stressful situations.
  • Supervise, train, develop and mentor assigned assistant designer(s) and/or design intern

Qualifications
  • Min 10 Years' experience in the intimate's industry is required with BA/ BS degree
  • Technical education in intimates fit and construction and pad development to degree level or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Intimates patternmaking, construction, fit and grading.
  • Extensive knowledge of factory environment, manufacturing techniques and machinery.
  • Expected to know the innerwear marketplace and competition
  • Exceptional talent with commercial eye and detail in innerwear product knowledge
  • Elevated taste level & ability to interpret trends into high volume saleable product
  • Ability to multi-task, drive for problem solving, and react with speed and agility
  • Ability to identify issues and create solutions outside of established parameters and guidelines.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong ability to seamlessly flex priorities based on changes in business strategy.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, individual contributor, ability to work independently and collaboratively in highly creative environment
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment
  • Highly motivated, passionate, and results-oriented and highly organized with attention to detail
  • Highest level of business ethics
  • Experience using a product development technical specification program (PDM, PLM etc).
  • Proficient in both Mac/ PC; Adobe Creative Suites (Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, Acrobat) Microsoft Office proficient (Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint); 3D Design experience is a plus
