Reporting Relationships

Directly reports to the North America Controller and does not supervise others.

This role indirectly helps facilitate processes with the direction of the Assistant Controller.

Role Responsibilities

Team Member

  • Participate fully in cross functional job responsibilities and personal development of all team members to ensure a strong and supportive team environment
  • Keep a focus on the needs of the plant by recognizing that accounting is an internal service function to support a successful business at the plant
  • Be aware of areas of value-add that accounting can provide the rest of the organization, and then take action
  • Look outside of the accounting and finance function for other areas of plant efficiency, and improvement
  • Participate fully in all aspects and needs of the plant. Accounting is not a stand-alone function at the plant
  • Strong analytical skills & ability to conceptualize mathematically
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, and take ownership of their work

Accounting
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
  • Analyze revenues, commissions, and expenses to ensure that they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis, and report on variances
  • Analyze/Track Capital project spending
  • Communicate with Project Managers to close projects in a timely manner
  • Assist with financial and tax audits
  • Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements
  • Assist with quarterly producer reports; analyzing and correcting discrepancies
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Conform with, and abide by, all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
  • Assist with budgeting/forecasting
  • Intercompany billing and transactions w/ related Foreign Exchange calculations
  • Assist Sales Managers with World Wide AR reporting and collections
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset system and Depreciation Schedules
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Intermediate to advance experiences with: MS Word, MS Excel, & MS Outlook
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of major accounting
  • Software packages for both general ledger & statutory acct

Working Conditions

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Candidate Requirements

Education:

Minimum 4 year accounting degree or business degree with accounting emphasis

Professional experience: -Thorough understanding of GAAP

- Knowledge of statutory accounting principles

- Strong analytical and accounting skills

- Intermediate to advance experiences with:

- MS Word, MS Excel, & MS Outlook

- Intermediate to advance knowledge of major accounting

- Software packages for both general ledger & statutory account
