Role Description

A great opportunity to be a part of the Zoetis Incubator Research Lab in Fort Collins, CO. Zoetis is seeking an experienced researcher to join our in vivo biology team studying the immunology and disease pathology of veterinary species. In this position, a successful candidate will be a passionate laboratory scientist and a key contributor in the design, planning, execution, and interpretation of a large variety of in vivo and in vitro experimental studies to delineate key pathways, potential therapeutic targets, and their mechanism of action in veterinary disease.

Responsibilities will include designing and executing experimental studies using in vivo models, sourcing and processing primary tissue samples from a variety of organisms, and running quantitative experiments and analysis on these samples. This scientist will have the opportunity to interpret and present the results of their experiments to other researchers and teams within Zoetis.

The successful candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience working with animals or in an experimental biology setting. They must also be a creative individual with a proven track record of analytical thinking. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • A proven ability to collaborate and across teams and across multiple disciplines.
  • Practice working with humanized mice (containing a human immune system), xenografts, or other transplant immunology
  • Experience in the establishment of in vivo models of inflammatory or infectious disease.
  • Ability to execute a variety of experimental/technical tasks involving primary sample collection, processing, and analysis
  • Experience with immunoassays (ELISAs, Western Blots, Luminex) or molecular systems biology techniques (RNA sequencing, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq etc.) is a plus

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Dedication to animal health and well-being
  • Educational background: either
    • DVM with experience working in small animals.
    • MS or PhD (in molecular or cellular biology, neurobiology, immunology, or related field)
    • or BS (in biology or related field) with 3+ years subsequent laboratory experience,
  • Experience working with live animals in laboratory or clinical setting
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Work environment: The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in Colorado. Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.
