Job Description: Merck Research Laboratories South San Francisco (SSF) Innovation Center is focused on driving discovery research. Our new multi-disciplinary discovery research site offers state-of- the-art resources to explore the most promising science combined with Merck's world-class R&D expertise in small molecules and biologics. Located within the heart of the Bay area's biomedical community, research conducted in our new laboratories spans exploratory biology through early clinical development and is an integral part of Merck's powerful world-class network of drug and vaccine discovery. A contractor at Merck's Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences department in South San Francisco will have the exciting opportunity to help identify, characterize, and successfully transition quality drug candidate compounds from discovery to development. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to help investigate new technologies related to drug delivery, pharmaceutics, and other areas relevant to Merck's drug discovery/development programs. Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: 1. Help prepare/design enabling preclinical formulations (drug delivery). 2. Perform solution and solid-state chemistry characterization experiments. 3. Instrument maintenance and preparation routine laboratory reagents (i.e., buffers) 4. Help with shipping and ordering lab supplies. 5. Perform protein stability characterization studies.

Qualifications: Education: •BS/MS/PHD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, or related science; Prior professional experience in pharmaceutical sciences highly preferred. Experience: •With BS(5-10years), Masters (3-6 years), PHD(1-2 years) experience in pharmaceutical sciences with in academic environment. Required skills: • HPLC, buffer prep/basic wet chemistry, solid-state characterization /pharmaceutics. • Must excel in a team environment. Software skills: • MS office suite(excel,powerpoint, Word) Note: This is 100% lab based onsite role.
