Safety Coordinator

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Brandenburg is seeking a Safety Coordinator that is a leader in the division to help to achieve safety performance results through development and execution of the health and safety strategy, risk reduction, team engagement, compliance assurance, and training. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; ensuring OSHA compliance; assisting in the administration of Workers Compensation and drug testing; assisting in the administration of industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs; training; maintaining and analyzing safety/health/incident data; assist with overseeing contractor safety programs and security; develop and update policies and procedures, conduct and document incident investigations, safety inspections/audits, develop action plans and follow up, and conduct safety training and participate in emergency response teams.

This position requires willingness to spend time on the floor to obtain an understanding of operations for their area to be a safety resource to the team.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A degree in a safety and health related field or a combination of equivalent education with demonstrated work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA VPP Experience
• Experience in working with a Safety Management System
• Prior safety experience in a steel manufacturing environment
