Guest Services, Inc. is looking for a Retail Buyer for the Hospitality Division.

The ideal candidate should have retail buyer and operations management experience. Driven candidates who are focused on developing growth, driving the department to an enhanced level and experience in Grocery, Gifts & Souvenir shops are highly encouraged to apply!

Pay Range: $75,000+/year.

Remote West Coast Division role, with up to 40% traveling to different units. Looking for candidates only located on the west coast.

JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Buyer, Hospitality isresponsible for product development, creating interpretive themes for eachproperty that focuses on stewardship messaging and relevant to the customers'needs based on the specific property. Works with unit on developing skills andcreating bench strength. Monitors inventory levels recommendsfixtures and lighting to facilitate the financial goals and companyinitiatives. Assist the units with moving distressed inventory with creativeprograms and strategies. The Retail Buying Manager cultivates a team environment thatprovides exceptional customer service and vendor relations. Works with teams inunits to enhance the visual experience, creating a unique atmosphere thatinspires the consumer to shop. Motivates field units, provides productknowledge training, instills accountability, and achieves results to drivesuccess in the unit

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Buys for retail operations creating stores with a diverse array of products encompassing souvenirs, apparel, sporting goods local and native handcraft, specialty gifts that represent the region, and the unique environments we operate in.
  • Effectively buys and communicates timely with operating units on incoming purchases, creating Purchase Order tracking systems for each property working with.
  • Develops a process and partners with units to enhance the annual merchandising plans as needed, from interpretive messaging in products to signs, pricing etc.
  • Stay abreast of trends and evaluate what makes sense for the unit and what does not. Ensure all visitors are represented.
  • Offer creative displays and product selections that provide guests with a way to emotionally connect with the special experiences found in the unique places we operate in.
  • Ensure best procurement terms and pricing through negotiation and strategic purchasing.
  • Ensure compliance with established budget.
  • Assist in the development of retail standards. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for retail processes. Provide training and support to retail unit managers and staff on retail operations policies and procedures.
  • Works with properties on merchandising inventory to maximize sales and profit potential. Assist in developing retail unit design aesthetic and floor layout, providing direction on merchandising and displays to present a professional image of stewardship in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Assist in directing and implementation of promotional strategies and programs.
  • Establish and implement loss prevention procedures with units and assist them analyzing distressed inventory and action plans,
  • Ensure timely response to vendors, business partners, unit managers and leadership in all areas of business including areas such as ordering, purchase orders, inspections, signage, meetings, merchandise plans.
  • Ensures compliance with a strong focus on buying, vendor relationships,security and inventory management.
  • Always represent the company in a professional and positive manner. Maintain and enhance the company's image when interacting with clients, guests, associates, and vendors. Respond as needed to customer inquiries and resolve guest complaints.
  • Lead and encourage units to reach goals while enforcing the company's policies and regulations, implementing new ones as necessary ensuring a focus on control points.
  • Work with Director of Retail and assist on provide directions to the retail units on how to develop an annual Retail Merchandising plan.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's or Business Degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in related management.
  • Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people.
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to work well as a team leader; ability to problem-solve; ability to develop bench strength and provide guidance and direction to units. Ensure timely coordination with unit General Managers.
  • Strong customer service & negotiating abilities. Actively look for ways to integrate and motivate teams to feel good about their accomplishments but enhance the way they are currently doing business today.
  • Buying background in souvenir and retail.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire workday and to climb steps regularly and sit for long periods of time.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to develop & provide training including SOPs. .
  • Consistently communicates and receives verbal communication with other operating units and business partners in a demanding environment.
  • Visiting sites is essential to perform job duties. Required to travel throughout both parks and participate in retail, and sporting goods shows and new property transitions.

  • Typical office equipment (computers, phone system, fax, copiers, scanners, among others).
