Research Scientist I, CoinfectionsTNPRC - Immunology
Location: Covington, LA
SummaryThe Research Scientist I conducts research projects focused on examining the impact of malaria co-infection on SIV-associated intestinal mucosal dysfunction, as well as how concurrent HIV infection affects malaria infection in pregnancy and subsequent infant immune development. This position spearheads data collection and interpretation, conducts research presentations, publishes findings in relevant academic journals and works toward securing sufficient pertinent funding to supplement existing finances. This position plays a major role in enabling research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellow, graduate students, and staff.
Required Qualifications*Doctorate degree in a biological science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), or Doctor of Medicine (MD)
*4 years of research experience in an academic environment and nonhuman primate studies
*Experience with nonhuman primate models of infection
*Expertise in assessment of immune cell populations
*3 years of post-doctoral research experience
*Knowledge of institutional regulatory document submission
