Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Employee Health is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients/employes receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that functions under the direction of the Employee Health Director and other leaders and is supported through the WellStar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by Occupational Health Nursing Standards, WellStar 5-Star Nursing and evidence based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the WellStar Core Competencies.

It is expected that all RN Employee Health Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the employee health team it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient/employee, system policies and procedures.

The RN Employee Health Nurse provides the following services: Occupational health screenings for new and current employees, and participation in wellness programs. Additional duties include: immunization programs, tracking, managing and reporting occupational exposures, and providing education on maintaining a safe work environment. Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of Employee Health policies and procedures. Job may require travel to work at other sites when needed.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing
Preferred Minimum Education
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred
Required Minimum Certification
  • Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia
  • Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position
  • Once team member reaches eligibility requirements for COHN, the expectation is the team member will complete certification within one year
Preferred Minimum Certification
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) preferred
Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nursing field, preferably in Occupational Health
Required Minimum Skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and holds basic computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills along with customer service skills required
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies in using a decisive, composed and respectful manner
  • Ability to adapt to knowledge and practice requirements by state and federal regulations related to occupational health
