Position Summary:

Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program that provides services designed to improve academic, career, and personal skills to prepare first-generation (neither parent has a four-year degree) and low-income students in grades 6-12 to be successful in high school and college. The General Office Assistant will be responsible for assisting students and staff members in all areas of operation for TRiO Educational Talent Search Program. This position is temporary and will end when the budgeted funds are exhausted.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to the Director, TRiO Educational Talent Search.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate regularly with supervisor about student needs, progress, and achievement.
  2. Perform office work as needed.
  3. Establish rapport with TRiO Educational Talent Search students and their parents.
  4. Assist in maintaining detailed records of contact made with participants and services provided.
  5. Overseeing client files, information, and updating relevant information including data entry into Blumen as needed.
  6. Maintain all paper and digital files and quality assurance.
  7. Develop excellent professional relationships with fellow workers.
  8. Documenting client interactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  9. Assisting with maintaining audit-ready records.
  10. Assisting the TRiO Educational Talent Search team with completing contractual requirements.
  11. Maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  2. Two years of experience working with under-resourced students.
  3. Demonstrated experience with a multi-racial, multi-ethnic population.
  4. Sensitivity to the needs of urban school students.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Three to five years of experience working with under-resourced students.
  2. One year of working with the TRiO program.
