The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine (CSAM) invites applications for either a Part-Time or Full-Time Clinical Associate position in the Primary Care (PC) Service.  Clinical Associates are academic support staff that contribute to the service and teaching mission of the School. 

This position will focus on clinical patient care and education of veterinary students in the area of primary care surgical skills training within Penn Vet's Ryan Veterinary Hospital.  This position dovetails with a renewed emphasis on PC education within CSAM and Ryan Hospital.  The successful hire will help provide and organize surgical instruction including spay, neuter, and minor procedures for meeting accreditation requirements and student educational needs.

The successful hire will be part of building a vibrant, front-facing PC program that attracts strong veterinary students and will work directly with the Penn Vet Shelter Medicine Program, Soft Tissue Surgery Service, and Anesthesia Service, as well as with administration, to fulfill the School's commitment to student eduction and the local community and pet population.

 

The successful candidate will have strong clinical and surgical skills in primary care medicine, surgery, and dentistry, as well as excellent communication and team-building skills, and is expected to contribute to the visionary leadership in PC. Additionally, training and experience in high-quality, high-volume spay-neuter techniques and settings are necessary for the position. Experience in training settings and community-based veterinary programs in private or academic practices is desirable. 

This position may be full-time or part-time and specific details are negotiable with the selected candidate. Salary will be commensurate with professional credentials and experience.  Applications will be considered until an appropriate candidate is identified.

Qualifications:

DVM or equivalent.   Training and experience in high-quality, high-volume spay-neuter techniques and settings are necessary for the position. Experience in training settings and community-based veterinary programs in private or academic practices is desirable.
