Purpose

The Proposal Specialist - Field Service (FS) is responsible for working closely with all business functions with the Field Service Business Unit (FSBU), as well as outside sales reps, independent sales agencies, third party contractors, outside vendors, and external customers to support the commercial side of projects nationwide. This is an inside sales role with primary responsibilities to include reviewing customer specifications, responding to customer requests/issues, and developing winning proposals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Promote and help position the transformer field service business to maintain and grow market share consistently year-over-year
  • Work with direct & outside rep personnel to identify/capture new aftermarket sales opportunities
  • Review specifications and prepare quotations for internal and external RFQ's
  • Coordinate and conduct proposal reviews with FS management
  • Follow up on all quotes submitted and maintain monthly sales reports
  • Coordinate efforts internally to resolve questions/issues that arise from field service requests
  • Maintain detailed records of RFQ submissions, pricing, key customer correspondence, and log information into required systems
  • Support data mining efforts and the tracking of key data to enhance and improve business decisions.
  • Review purchase orders prior to acceptance, enter sales orders, deliver project hand-offs to project management peers, submit change orders, and invoice projects as required.
  • Support FS management with data capture, key performance indicator reporting, etc.
  • Assist with other needs and requirements as required within the FS business to support the workload
Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience required in reviewing customer specifications and preparing quotations for transformer/substation field service projects (Preferred 7-10 years)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field. Associates degree or high school diploma can be considered with additional years of experience
  • Training or knowledge in NFPA70E, IEEE, NETA standards, or other transformer/substation training/certifications is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong customer focus and proven relationship building skills, both externally and internally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to listen effectively, understand customer needs, and identify and clearly present value propositions to our customers
  • Must have a positive attitude and have a willingness to help in any area mentality (team player)
Travel Requirements
  • Preferred work location is at Delta Star's Field Service headquarters located in Forest, VA, or other satellite Field Service office location(s) throughout the US. However, remote home-based candidates will also be considered.
