SUMMARY:

The Control Atmosphere Stunning (CAS) Supervisor will be responsible for all functions and employees of the CAS Department. The CAS Supervisor is responsible for associate training and coaching and will perform daily inspections and audits of each area to insure associates and equipment are performing in accordance to the departmental SOP's while maintaining values of safety, quality and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Verifies that the Department is ready for the day's production inclusive of staffing
  • Communicate with the entire management team to insure maximum efficiency and handle production issues, inclusive of Live Operations Department
  • Perform Animal Welfare Audits throughout the day on each lot
  • Manage CO2 and O2 inventory
  • Manage all areas within the CAS Department that effect efficiency
  • Excellent working knowledge of all equipment and their components, within the CAS Department
  • Communicate with Supply to order necessary supplies for the Department
  • End of the day paper work
  • Verify shut down of all CAS areas
  • Manage all associate training, coaching and auditing
  • Responsible to develop and maintain all Departmental reports such as Hanging Efficiency, Animal Welfare, Bonus Program, Metrics, etc.
  • Responsible to develop, train and execute company policy and procedure, inclusive of Animal Welfare Standards
  • Perform CAS Leader duties in their absence
  • Insure proper housekeeping of the Department

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to innovate, execute and involve the CAS Team with passion
  • Computer skills, MS Word, Excel Database, and e-mail
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly motivated self starter
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Able to be on your feet throughout entire shift
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to work around blood at times, outside in all kinds of weather and inside in a warm humid environment

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a meat processing facility or equivalent preferred

Communication Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to read and understand manuals, labels, monitors, and audit forms and observation forms.

Physical Requirements / Environment:
  • Stand/Walking: Continuously (8 or more hours)
  • Grasp: Continuously (picking up product to cut)
  • Pull/Push: Occasionally (5-8 lbs of product toward work area)
  • Lift/Carry: Continuously (2-12 ounces) frequently (up to 20-40 lbs.)
  • Other Physical Requirements: Bend/Stoop occasionally
  • Physical Environment: Continuously - Working around moving machinery, working in a cold environment (28-34 degrees F).
