POSITION PURPOSE:
The Planning Manager is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. This role creates and maintains forecast models for their customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources.

Experience
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a demand planning/forecasting role.
* Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
* Knowledge of SAP/APO, Manugistics, or Oracle Demand Planning or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
* Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures.
Skills
* Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
* Have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and a broad understanding of supply chain functions.
* Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Analytically minded yet can still deal with ambiguity.
Education
* Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns.
* Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities.
* Maintain demand planning processes and systems to improve forecasting accuracy; propose and implement solutions.
* Create statistical forecasts by gathering, analyzing, and validating data; and successfully communicate forecast to management.
* Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies.
* Conduct weekly forecast maintenance.
* Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
* Provide ad hoc analysis in support of other functional areas with deeper statistical analysis.
* Provide support in developing seasonal demand forecasts and anticipate customers reactions to the promotions and discounts.
* Work with customers, sales team and supply chain management to improve forecast accuracy.
* Schedule weekly forecast meetings with all customers as required.
* Identify opportunities to meet customer demands during constrained supply.
* Maintain demand planning processes and systems to improve forecasting accuracy.
* Identify areas of improvements and recommend action plans.
* Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
* Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning.
* Create statistical forecasts: Gather, analyze and validate data
* Monitor trends in forecast error.
* Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Typically, this position does not have supervisory responsibilities.





SCOPE & EXPECTATIONS:
* Language Skills:
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business presentations.
* Ability to listen and communicate effectively with clients/providers and employees in an effort to respond to common inquires.
* Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to groups and management.
* Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
* Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as statistical and financial math calculations, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
* Reasoning Ability:
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and develop a plan of action to follow those instructions.
* Physical Demands:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
* Working Conditions:
* Typical office environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Work hours will vary from normal business hours. Occasional weekend work may be required. Regular travel is required.
* Reports to:
* Recruitment process may consist of any combination of phone, video and in person interviews.
* Offers may be contingent upon successful completion of Background Check, Drug Screen, Physical Examination and/or potential Motor Vehicle Check.
