Job Summary
The production lead will lead a team completing plastic extrusion production of raw materials into finished goods. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment, maintaining product quality, and leading a team of operators and technicians. Your primary goal will be to ensure the shift meets production targets while adhering to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Bay to ensure smooth and efficient operation
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance as needed
- Ensure that equipment is properly set up, maintained, and operated according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance with the maintenance team
- Assist supervisor with the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
- Assist supervisor with staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action
- Provide and facilitate effective communication and information flow with other departments
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
- Regular engagement with Quality Control in the implementation and enforcement of quality control procedures to ensure that fittings meet the required specifications and standards
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify product quality and address any non-conformities
- Maintain housekeeping according to 5S standards
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct regular safety inspections, provide training on safe work practices, and address any safety concerns promptly
- Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively, identify training needs and organize relevant training programs
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment maintenance, and quality control results
- Generate reports on production metrics, efficiency, and quality performance
- Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, evaluate new technologies, and optimize material utilization
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
Education/Required Skills - High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational training in manufacturing, mechanical or related field is preferred
- Proven experience in manufacturing or a similar role within the plastics industry
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards in the manufacturing industry
- Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting
- Forklift certification a plus
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
Compensation - The hourly pay rate is $25- $27
