Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: The Center for Youth Development and Intervention ("the CYDI") at the University of Alabama seeks a full-time postdoctoral fellow. This is a two-year position, working on an NIMH-funded clinical trial.

We seek an applied scientist with a strong interest in both evidence-based treatment of youth anxiety and implementation science. Primary responsibilities include working directly with community-based providers from around the state of Alabama as a 'peer navigator and clinical consultant', to improve the implementation of cognitive-behavioral therapies to treat anxiety in children and adolescents. The postdoctoral fellow will be directly supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist and a clinical social worker. The primary focus of this position is working on a NIMH-funded clinical trial, which includes being involved in data analysis and publication. However, there will be opportunity for direct clinical work and supervision, if desired by the candidate, as well as training in grant writing and management.

Under the auspices of the Alabama Life Research Institute, the CYDI is a state-of-the-art research, training, and service facility that brings together investigators from diverse disciplines who share an interest in developmental psychopathology and the translation of evidence-based practices. The primary mission of the Center is to develop translational clinical science that addresses the prevention, remediation, and management of behavioral, emotional, and neurodevelopmental conditions from early childhood through adulthood. Consistent with this mission, the Center has four strategic objectives: Facilitate transdisciplinary, collaborative, and cutting edge research related to mental and physical health and well-being. Provide a venue for the translation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to community and school providers. Facilitate grant-funded research on intervention and prevention programming. Provide opportunities for student training via direct research engagement, clinical and consultative services, and secondary data analysis.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Psychology (Clinical, Developmental, Experimental, Counseling, Educational, etc.), Social Work, or equivalent.

Candidates will need to have completed their PhD or have it completed by the start of employment. Applicants should upload a cover letter describing your research and clinical experience, interests, and goals, and names of three people who will provide professional references, curriculum vita, and available start date. Please upload additional documents as a single pdf to the "other documents" tab as needed.

Skills and Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cognitive-behavioral therapies for youth anxiety treatment. Enthusiasm about working in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with community partners.

Preferred Qualifications: Excel, SPSS, and REDcap experience.

Background Investigation Statement: Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation DOES NOT automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. A candidate with a prior conviction or negative behavioral red flags will receive an individualized review of the prior conviction or negative behavioral red flags before a hiring decision is made.

Equal Employment Opportunity: The University of Alabama is an Equal Employment/Equal Educational Opportunity Institution. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment or volunteer status without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, age, genetic or family medical history information, disability, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected basis, and will not be discriminated against because of their protected status.
