Plant Engineer

Salary: $90,000.00 USD Annually - $125,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Our client is currently seeking an experienced Plant Engineer for an immediate opening in Norfolk, Virginia. This role will have responsibility for maintaining the control systems of manufacturing equipment, process improvement design, and oversee the upkeep of plant utilities and facilities.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Maintain the control components of all process equipment and maintaining plant utilities and facilities.
• Lead the manufacturing engineering team to plan, design, and direct the modification of existing production equipment to maximize productivity.
• Specify, procure, and install additional process equipment to increase capacity.
• Facilitate repairs to equipment mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and control systems.
• Provide timely technical assistance to the Maintenance Staff in repairing equipment, including hands-on assistance as necessary to expedite equipment repairs.
• Facilitate the collection of processing data from production equipment to network database tables.
• Responsible for the maintenance and repair of facility HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Process utilities, compressed air, cooling water, and electrical service.
• Manage and supervise contractors when necessary.
• Evaluate the safety designs of process equipment, recommend, and implement improvements to ensure safe operation.
• Effectively work with the production manager, maintenance manager, process engineers, and upper management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Experience with electro-mechanical systems in a production environment.
  
• BS degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or closely related degree) and 5 years' related experience.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience related to maintaining and updating the control of process equipment.
• Experience in facilities maintenance and general mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with compression molding or similar hydraulic processes/equipment preferred.
• Competency in using MSOffice Suite, AutoCAD (for electrical design and floor layouts) and PLC programming.
• Practical experience directly related to manufacturing equipment repair and electrical design.
