Please visit our website at www.fielding.edu to learn more.  We are seeking a Payroll Coordinator to work remotely or in our Santa Barbara, CA office on a hybrid schedule on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis.  SummaryThe Payroll Coordinator performs all activities necessary to process payroll in a timely and accurate way in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Includes maintaining data in payroll system (ADP Workforce Now) and related records, preparing voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions, preparing accounting journal entries, providing audit information as requested, and preparing special reports for management. Provides training, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer support for employees in ADP and Time & Attendance reporting system. QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have an Associate's degree (AA) in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree (BA) preferred. American Payroll Association certification preferred.

 Experience:

3-5 years payroll experience including payroll processing, time reporting systems and general ledger accounting using a third-party payroll service (ADP Workforce Now preferred). Minimum one years’ experience in purchasing. Experience working with multi-state payroll is strongly preferred.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Proficient in prioritizing workload effectively and efficiently and working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Highly proficient in detail orientation, computer accounting methods and systems, and payroll and time card reporting practices and procedures
  • Highly proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet
  • Excellent math, problem-solving, and data entry skills
  • Current knowledge of local, state, and federal wage and hour laws and standard payroll procedures and controls
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and to work under pressure while using strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of payroll-related general ledger operations
