Position Overview:

The Software Patch Management Lead will be onsite to support the customer. The ideal candidate will be able to support the following functions:

  • Review, identify and maintain software versions for all the production applications and databases.
  • Create application and database software inventory including production versions and the latest version available from the software vendor(s).
  • Review and analyze the Critical Patch Update Advisories, Security Alerts/Bulletin available from IRM, DHS, NIST, and our software vendors.
  • Develop and publish policy and procedural guidance on patch management for COTS products.
  • Responsible for the planning, building, testing and deploying patches to all non-production and production systems and applications.
  • Ensure that all Team members, especially System Stakeholders, System Administrators, Network Administrators and Information Systems Security Personnel, are made aware of these patch management policies and procedures.
  • Work with development team and testing team and come up with project charter, schedule, estimates and preparation plan for software updates to include compatibility remediation activities.
  • Run weekly meetings with team, represent SSD projects in senior management team.
  • Manage the project team and follow up with assigned tasks. Prepare weekly status reports.
  • Work with the application owners, administrators, developers for impact analysis of the identified patches.
  • Manage concurrent initiatives specific to infrastructure and software development.
  • Interface with development, functional and Operations/Architecture teams for project requirements and scope related to patch/upgraded related projects.
  • Manage integrated projectteam activities, such as meetings, task assignment etc.
  • Provide strategies for continuous improvements through best-practices and standards.
  • Lead high-level discussions through brainstorming sessions in finding creative solutions to meet project objectives relating to software versioning and patch activities.
  • Coordinate the tracking and remediation activities for Enterprise Licensing of COTS products for GTM.
  • Manage enterprise software End-of Life data elements to include collecting, tracking, reporting and remediation activities for GTM.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent additional experience
  • 7+ years of overall IT experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager with broad knowledge of technical architecture, databases, infrastructure and web-based software development technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with any Software Development Life Cycle processes such as: Agile, Scrum and Waterfall
  • Demonstrated experience with program schedule management including creating and maintaining integrated master schedules
  • Occasional flexibility of hours to support system needs which may take place outside of standard working hours
Clearance: Interim or Active Secret clearance

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 5 years' experience ofApplication Lifecyclemanagement
  • An understanding of COTS products and its upgrade path preferably Oracle, Linux and Microsoft products
  • Experience with Scheduling and Tracking software vulnerability implementation and remediation activities greatly desired.
  • Prior software development experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Oracle/SQL Server databases, PeopleSoft Applications, Linux, Informatica, VMware, Windows, and Microsoft technologies like .net and IIS
  • Understanding of vulnerability implementation and tracking.
  • Capable of developing scripts and/or work with developers to create automation tools for patching/remediation activities.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
