LOCATION: Sturgeon Bay

STANDARD HOURS: Hours will vary based on need.

PAY RANGE*: $56.00 per hour

*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is an innovative leading-edge college dedicated to student success. A trainer's primary purpose is to design instruction and assessment in an engaging environment to foster learner success. A trainer continually improves the overall quality in the delivery of learning to support the achievement of college outcomes and priorities utilizing evidence to support decision-making. Trainers work in alignment with the college's mission, vision, core values, and operating principles. Trainers are expected to provide service to the college community exemplified by teamwork, committee involvement, and participation in shared leadership activities. In addition, trainers commit to ongoing professional growth in both training and technical areas, as well as the development of their colleagues and teams.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide welding training which is customized to meet the needs of a marine manufacturing organization in a flexible work-based environment on/or off campus.
  • Manage the instructional process and associated curriculum review and development, and student advising within the area of training.
  • Train on courses in, Blueprint Reading, Welding (Cutting, Visual Inspection, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW), Metal Fabrication, and related Math.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Assignments for this position are specifically located in the Sturgeon Bay area unless customer needs require training at other locations.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Two years successful direct occupational experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience required. Must pass Practical Welding Testing

    Recognized Welding Certifications preferred, i.e., Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE)

    Other Requirements

    • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desired.
    • Knowledge and familiarity of ABS American Bureau of Rules; Steel Vessel Rules, Rules of Building and Classing Aluminum Vessels, Guide for Building and Classing High Speed Naval Craft preferred.
    • Knowledge of weld safety, codes, blueprints, various metals and alloys.
    • Manage classroom and shop/lab ensuring a productive and safe learning environment. May need to conduct weld test to applicable code and assignments training and testing in business and industry.
    • Develop and deliver customized welding training required to weld within a naval vessel.
    • Identify and request equipment and supplies needed for the class.
    • Must be able to weld out of position.
    • Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends when requested.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
