Overview

Falconwood is a woman-owned / veteran-owned company providing consultation and programmatic support to Department of Defense Information Technology (IT) initiatives and programs. We provide expert advice and consultation on a diverse range of IT subjects, focusing on acquisition, cybersecurity, engineering, logistics, and process development.

We have an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to support the China Lake Earthquake recovery effort. Specifically, the Engineer will configure and install network equipment, apply security settings, perform testing, and generate design documentation. Travel will be required.
Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Navy technical teams to perform site surveys and obtain network infrastructure layouts and usage information.
• Review technical drawings, data, and specifications.
• Participate in design activities and performance testing.
• Install and configure network equipment.
• Apply security and software settings to ensure proper device hardening in accordance with DoD security policy.
• Perform network and device testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues.
• Participate in design activities and capacity testing.
• Create and maintain a collection of network infrastructure diagrams in Visio.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and/or recommend resolutions to transport related performance issues.
• Under minimal supervision, estimate and manage assigned tasks, projects, and other areas of responsibility.
• Develop and present briefs to project team and leadership as needed.
• Provide status reports.
• Travel to site location to perform installation and attend meetings as required.
• Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices.

• Minimum SECRET clearance.
• 7+ years of networking experience.
• BS Degree in engineering or computer science fields (e.g., Computer, IT, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems), or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with Department of the Navy (DON) network environments and design.
• Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Experience with network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade), IP Protocols including IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, OSI Layers, and Network Management.
• Experience implementing and verifying DISA STIGS (Security and Technical Implementation Guides) and National Institute of Standards and Technology cybersecurity-related standards and guidelines.
• Experience with enterprise network management/performance management and monitoring hardware and software tools.
• Understanding of Boundary Security architecture, design, and solutions (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, gateways) as well as the supporting configuration and management tools.
• Experience with network performance testing including test procedure development, execution, instrumentation, and automation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Access, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work on a team while keeping the overall project goal on schedule.
• Ability to think independently with minimal oversight.
• Exemplary customer/client management skills and techniques.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills including public speaking and personal interaction.

• 10+ years of network experience.
• Familiarity with Agile concepts.
• Knowledge of and experience with applying Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of Defense (DoD) architecture policy.
• Experience with DON network environments, specifically Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)/ Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
