Purpose of Role

The National Process Engineer is responsible for coaching, developing, and standardizing our injection molding process development and troubleshooting methodologies. Through these efforts the National Process Engineer will collaborate with Plant and National Support Teams to improve injection molding efficiencies, part quality and reduce operational costs.

Areas of Accountabilities

Invest in the Plant Processing Teams.

  • Identify and address opportunities to grow processing capabilities to improve product quality, equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Standardize and proliferate processing methodology and training.
  • Strengthen collaboration amongst the plant teams.
  • Participate in hiring decisions for plant processing team members.
  • Foster opportunities for growth into and out of processing roles
Drive Processing Best Practices
  • Control standard cycle times and drive cycle standardization and best practices across machines/plants.
  • Optimize standard cycles for long-term efficiency and asset performance.
  • Monitor and drive improvement of robot demolding times.
  • Establish processing standards for energy efficiency where there is clear value.
Collaborate with National Support Teams
  • Partner with National Quality on the development and implementation of Process-Driven Quality Assurance
  • Work with National Reliability to identify opportunities to use process outputs for asset condition monitoring.
  • Drive the usage of recycled content.
Support New Product and Material Launch
  • Oversee manufacturability acceptance of new products, materials, and processes.
  • Inform mold builds for processing factors.
  • Facilitate experimental trails on new materials, alternative streams, fillers, etc.
  • Support new product launches with boots on the ground process support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in injection molding processing
  • Experience with Kraus Maffei Injection Molding Machines preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement processes from the ground up.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Proficient in the creation of written work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional technical teams and facilitate progress.
  • Data-driven, meticulous, and highly organized.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50%)
