Basic Job Functions:
The Mechanical Project Engineer is an integral member of the Engineering team and must be committed to excellence in everything we do. The primary duties will be to plan, schedule, budget, and implement the engineering, procurement, and construction of mechanical equipment and mechanical work on each project through the use of outside contractors and engineering firms, to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in hiring and leading outside engineering firms and multiple contractors on fast-track projects.
- Working knowledge of piping, pumps, and mechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS or associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Understanding of steel plant processes
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical processes, preferably in the steel industry
- At least three years of maintenance and/or operational experience
