In partnership with the Chapter Executive Director, Chapter staff, market volunteers and other stakeholders, the Market Director is responsible for strategic growth of the Oregon/SW WA market including, but not limited to, achievement of annual net revenue goals; achievement of outcomes as outlined in strategic plan, recruitment and successful management of staff, volunteers, donors, and corporate partners needed to achieve revenue goals and established outcomes. Primary revenue accomplishment is through the execution of special events; targeted corporate and donor relationships; and strategic initiatives in collaboration with partners in core fundraising programs, Community Engagement and Leadership Giving.

This is a remote position open to candidates in the Portland metro/Vancouver metro areas.

Major Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Executive Director and Regional staff, manage the direction and growth of the Chapter's fundraising events including the Walk, Gala and Ride.
  • In partnership with Executive Director, work with the Oregon/SW WA Community Board in implementing annual plans and ensuring the on-going development of a strong, engaged, and diverse Board. Provides leadership and support in identifying, recruiting, empowering, and retaining high impact volunteers.
  • Lead and/or support the coordination of fundraising and non-fundraising efforts as guided by the Executive Director, with strong collaboration with the Regional and National resource teams, and volunteer leadership.
  • Identify pipeline and manage growth in Corporate Development across all events.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of business within Oregon/SW WA market and owns overall accountability for portfolio success.
  • Accountable for fundraising success and quality across portfolio of donors and constituents within the Oregon/SW WA market.
  • Active member of the Account and Opportunity Teams for high impact Leadership Giving donors, in partnership with National Leadership Giving team.
  • Identifies and develops new business with existing donors and new prospects.
  • Provides excellent client relationship management to key client stakeholders.
  • Takes the lead in building or deepening relationships with a portfolio of clients.
  • Is viewed as a trusted and reliable thought leader and partner to donors.
  • Understands JDRF portfolio of offerings and how those offerings relate to donor needs.
  • Actively contributes to the management of the business through building of chapter capabilities, support of management decisions, ownership of processes or special projects and identification of potential talent (staff and volunteers.)
  • Represents the best interests, professionalism and integrity of the chapter and JDRF in all activities and relationships through a unified message of the JDRF mission and a commitment to organizational standards.

Qualifications:

• 10 - 15 years of professional fundraising experience, with a clear record of achievement in a complex, mission-driven organization; 5- 10 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Record of success in a fundraising leadership role, particularly in large scale events (walk, gala, etc.) and major gifts ($10,000+). Strong skills in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and on-going stewardship of major individual donors and corporate partners.
• Experience in partnering with strong and active volunteer leaders, as is the ability to work successfully with a large network of passionate volunteers.
• Creativity, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills are needed for this role.
• Ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team; develop and sustain an inclusive and respectful work environment through all interactions with staff and volunteers.
• Ability to develop and successfully maintain an extensive network of strategic relationships (donors, volunteers, community partners, etc.) in the local area.
• Ability to be a passionate spokesperson/representative of JDRF's mission. High level of comfort communicating complex information (e.g., JDRF research, goals, etc.) to a wide range of audiences.
• Highly efficient in time management and meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed.
• Proficiency in non-profit fiscal and strategic management preferred.
• Existing knowledge of and network of relationships in the territory preferred.
• Must have a valid OR or WA state driver's license

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
