Manufacturing Engineer

Position Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide support for the fabrication and welding systems, along with their associated tooling. This position will also support and provide project supervision of the ME Techs.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the continual improvement of process and product quality.
  • Assist with improving methods and reducing costs.
  • Ensure that the tools and fixtures required to support our processes are available and are in good working condition.
  • Manage the engineering design process, installation, MPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing process while meeting quality, capability, cost and time targets.
  • Introduce new parts and processes to support developing products.
  • Manage various projects that support product development.
  • Coordinate the installation of new production processes in the facility required to produce the trailer products.
  • Assure that all applicable quality standards are met in the introduction of trailer products.

Education and Training
  • A bachelor's degree in a related technical area is required (ME preferred).
  • 1+ year of professional experience in manufacturing engineering with 8 or more years preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Formal training in robotic systems, metal fabrication and arc welding is a strong positive.
  • Hands-on experience in tooling, fixturing and methods is required.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD and CAM technology is a strong positive.
  • Experience in CNC or PLC programming is a strong positive.
  • Experience in procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment relative to metal working is a strong positive.
  • Production experience is a strong positive.
  • Should demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should be customer focused.
Physical Demands
  • Constant standing, walking, reaching, balancing, cervical spine motion, lower extremities, and simple grasp.
  • Frequent use of firm grasp, fine manipulation, and pinching.
  • Occasional forward bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Minimal crawling and driving.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Carry up to 50 lbs. approximately 5 feet.
  • Push/Pull 20-40 lbs. of force 40 feet.

  • Work Environment: Manufacturing
  • Lighting: Adequate.
  • Ventilation: Adequate.
  • Temperature: Non-Temperature Controlled.
