Job Description

The Manager of Recruiting & Campus Relations reports to the Director of Legal Recruiting and is responsible for strategically managing and implementing the firm's campus relations and pipeline initiatives, diversity recruiting, the summer associate program, 1L law student recruiting and entry-level hiring. Collaborating with the Director of Legal Recruiting and with the larger Talent team, the Manager of Recruiting & Campus Relations is expected to think strategically about recruiting and pipeline initiatives and the achievement of the firm's recruiting goals. The Manager of Recruiting & Campus Relations will demonstrate a commitment to inspiring and empowering the larger team and strive for continuous improvement to achieve best practices and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Recruiting Process:

  • Develop strategy for student outreach, design programming and increase student pipeline for recruiting purposes at 30+ law schools. Develop and execute strategy for diversity recruiting efforts
  • Maintain and analyze the firm's historical recruiting statistics; identify trends in data and think strategically to inform future recruiting initiatives
  • Enrich relationships with law schools - career planning centers, law student organizations, etc. - through targeted programs and innovative initiatives
  • Ensure proper staffing for all campus relations and on-campus interview events (student group events, offer dinners, hospitality suites, etc.)
  • Travel to select schools for interviews, job fairs, receptions and other recruiting events
  • Manage early interview process, including sourcing candidates, scheduling screening interviews and creating callback schedules
  • Screen summer associate candidates and make callback recommendations
  • Manage follow-up efforts and ensure candidates receive customized outreach
  • Act as a resource and advisor to candidates, lawyers and other team members throughout the recruiting process
  • Work with the larger recruiting team to audit viRecruit, the applicant tracking system, for accuracy of data and efficiency of reporting. Produce reports and analyze data for the department and for Recruiting Committee meetings
  • Lead recruiting committee offer decision meetings and provide hiring recommendations on candidate files
  • Oversee the firm's 1L programming and recruitment including all campus outreach, organization sponsorships and pipeline initiatives
  • Manage hiring and onboarding process for 1L LCLD Scholars and SEO Fellows

Summer Associate Program:
  • Plan and execute the US Track Summer Program in collaboration with the Director of Legal Recruiting
  • Manage summer associate practice group placement process, including liaising with Practice Group Leaders
  • Plan and lead orientation to ensure summers are integrated fully
  • Oversee the planning and execution of summer social events
  • Ensure all communications (paperwork, manuals, memos, etc.) are updated to reflect the most current information
  • Monitor the overall program and summer associate performance and provide updates at committee meetings
  • Manage onboarding and departure process, including distribution of internal and external feedback surveys; analyze results of feedback surveys

General:
  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive advantage for both summer program and recruiting processes
  • Work with the Legal Talent team to help develop innovative and creative ways to disseminate the firm's recruiting message, including helping with the development and maintenance of the recruiting website, brochures and other collateral
  • Collaborate with Director on budget preparation for recruiting efforts and the annual Summer Associate Program
  • Approve and track attorney expenses for on-campus recruiting initiatives and the summer program
  • Collaborate with Director in overall management of the Recruiting Department - including ad hoc projects and mentoring and developing more junior team members

  • Must be a creative problem solver and possess a high level of self-confidence, maturity and excellent judgement
  • Strong ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
  • High energy with a great deal of enthusiasm and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a number of responsibilities, while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills - including the ability to tailor the communication style to a specific audience
  • Exceptional public speaking, presentation and networking skills
  • Demonstrates a strong customer service orientation

Education & Experience
  • A minimum of five years of prior recruiting experience (law firm preferred)
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Knowledge of the legal market and current industry is important, as is a willingness to learn

Physical Activity/Other Miscellaneous
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and travel, including some weekends, particularly during the busy recruiting season
