Education: High School Diploma or GED required

Experience: At least five (5) years' experience in maintenance, with experience in general carpentry, painting, plumbing, and/or basic electrical preferred.

Summary: The Maintenance Worker works under supervision of the Director of Facilities to ensure that campus maintenance and upkeep are completed and to ensure the safety and well-being of each client and personnel and maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures and established state and federal standards and requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Observe all agency policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all maintenance assignments and adapts to changing workloads.
  • Helps with Complete Lawn Care and Landscaping.
  • Aids, supervises, and keeps well-maintained ground equipment for volunteer groups to help with grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure all BVT Vehicles are fueled and maintained per company standards.
  • Ensure all BVT equipment is cared for and maintained.

Measurable Deliverables:
  • Monthly safety inspection of all homes and areas completed.
  • Monthly safety inspection of all BVT vehicles and equipment.
  • Keep supervisor informed about safety issues and hazards which are discovered.
  • Complete assigned helpdesk tickets in timely manner based on priority assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Is courteous to all clients, visitors, and staff.
  • Helps with moving client's furniture when needed.
  • Helps set up tables and chairs for Day Program or Development events.
  • Helps with delivery of supplies to Homes or Classrooms.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Credential, Skills and Abilities:
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid Texas drivers' license, work eligibility status and have a good driving record.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Must pass all pre-employment background checks including: Criminal History, Employee Misconduct, Nurse's Aide Registry, driving check and pass annual background checks.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screen throughout employment.
  • Capable and willing to learn the indicators of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and appropriate reporting and documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard safety management practices and principles.
  • Must be available for work scheduled after hours and in emergency situations as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to:
    • Use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a small amount of force continuously to move objects.
    • Move assigned equipment from one location to another without assistance and operate in a safe manner while requesting assistance when required.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in small/tight attic space.
    • Employ preventive and de-escalation techniques in crisis intervention.
    • Maintain all lawn mowing and grounds keeping equipment in good working order and making basic repairs.
    • Operate or can learn how to operate tractor, lawn equipment, and other mechanical equipment.
    • Safely climb, stand, and make basic/routine repairs on 6-10 foot ladders.
    • Walk frequently and stand for prolonged periods of time; frequently required to squat, kneel and twist; and assist in outdoor projects at times.
    • Organize and prioritize duties/responsibilities efficiently.
    • Communicate efficiently in both written and spoken form.
    • Work under minimal supervision; exercise judgment and confidentiality.
    • Presents and maintains professional appearance and demeanor; adheres to dress code of position/work area.
  • Capable and willing of gaining skills and knowledge of Residential Services, as it relates to regulations within ICF licensing standards.
