Job Description Summary

Receives instructions from the warehouse lead and utilizes the knowledge of plant and warehouse operating procedures to expeditiously and effectively carry out assignments driving a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift and clamps to lift, stack, tier or move products, equipment, or materials. Must maintain supplies to production as well as transfer packaged product to cold storage areas.

Job Description

  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
  • Inspects the lift truck prior to operation and reports any deficiency.
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventories materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices as needed.
  • Transports finished goods to or from Americold.
  • Supplies packaging with bulk blend, knock down cases, paper, etc.
  • Sorts and stacks excess bulk and finished product.
  • Stacks good or restricted cased product and supplies rework crew with restricted product.
  • Maintains bulk repacks.
  • Replaces cases opened by Q.A.
  • Maintains adequate empty totes for all bulk-off stations.
  • Supplies pallets to the palletizing area.
  • Reports all equipment failures and mechanical problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand and follows Lamb-Weston Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Checks out lift truck before operating.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Relieves manifest for breaks and lunch.
  • Changes batteries on lift truck when required.
  • Performs other functions and duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. The employee:

  • The noise level in the work environment can exceed 85 db.
  • Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Will frequently be exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
  • Will occasionally be exposed to cool conditions.

  • May occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
  • Will work around forklift traffic.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have good communication skills oral and written.
  • Must be able to memorize product codes, labels, and bulk lot numbers.

Language Skills

Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
